Description
The Switch-It CTRL+5 is a seating control box that plugs into the Penny and Giles R-Net system and runs up to ten seating functions from its own keypad, by button, toggle or voice.
Who is the CTRL+5 for?
The maker built voice activation for riders using sip and puff, a head array or a mini joystick, where moving between drive and seating modes takes time.
Which chairs does it suit?
It needs Penny and Giles R-Net electronics and a chair with the assignable buttons feature. The maker lists SEDEO seating on Quickie and Zippie chairs and Magic Mobility chairs with R-Net.
How do the voice commands work?
Voice activation is off from the factory, and a dealer turns it on. Say "Hello Sunrise", then "Sunrise 1" through "Sunrise 10" to move a seat function for a set time. Say "stop" at any time to halt the movement, and the buttons always work as a backup.
How is it mounted and set up?
It mounts on the armrest, on the seat rail, or on the back cane as an attendant control. The buttons come programmed for the common seat functions, and a dealer can assign one to another job, such as the horn. Bring the chair to our showroom or book a free home assessment and we will fit it.
Which keypad version suits me?
The toggle keypad, item 158708, suits a rider who uses broader, gross motor movements. The push button keypad, item 158709, suits a rider who wants a familiar, streamlined layout. Both carry the same voice activation.
Funding help for a power seating control in Ontario

Delivery, service and warranty
We fit the box, program the seating functions and turn voice activation on with the user. Sunrise Medical sets the coverage on Switch-It electronics, so we confirm the period in writing with your quote. The maker's paperwork is on our documents page.
How does it compare?
Where the rider needs a whole alternative drive control rather than seating, see our wheelchair accessories and our power wheelchairs.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still use the buttons?
Yes. The buttons work at any time as a backup, even with voice activation on.
How long does one voice command move the seat?
You set that time, from six to thirty seconds in six second steps.
Is the microphone included?
Yes, and a 3.5 mm socket takes an external lapel microphone for soft speakers.
