Switch-It Vigo Wireless Head Control for Power Chairs

A head control does not have to sit on the chair. The Switch-It Vigo is worn on the head instead: a light wireless headset reads how the rider tilts and turns, and sends those movements to the chair over Bluetooth, so nothing stands in front of the face and the view stays open.

  • How it drives: fully proportional, from head movement in three dimensions, so a small tilt forward moves the chair forward at a matching speed.
  • Headset weight: about 37 g, with an adjustable headband and an ear cushion that can be covered.
  • Battery: up to 14 hours of use, charging over micro-USB in about two hours, with a low battery warning before it shuts down.
  • In the kit: the Vigo headset, a headrest sensor, the Cubo display, the Link interface for the chair, a Bluetooth dongle and a charging cable.
  • Headrest sensor: gives the head somewhere to rest between drives, starts the drive and acts as an emergency stop.
  • Safety: the chair stops when the head leaves the range set in the app, and the maker says unusual control inputs are detected.
  • Compatible with: PGDT R-Net Omni, Omni2 or an Input/Output Module, Dynamic Controls Linx DLX-IN500, and Quantum Rehab Q-Logic 3 EX with an Enhanced Display or SCIM Module.
  • External switch: any 3.5 mm jack switch plugs into the Cubo.
  • Head mouse: with the dongle in a computer, the Vigo also works as a mouse, and a wink is a click.
  • Power seating: lift, tilt and recline can be driven from the head too, without reaching for a joystick.
  • Settings: each head movement is set on its own in the Switch-It Vigo Drive software, and Vigo Toolbox on a phone manages the network.
  • Item numbers: 256757 for the Vigo Head Drive, with a Cubo mount, 169966 for Omni2 or 256762 for Omni1.
Warranty
Two years of full warranty from NowTechnologies, the maker

Description

The Switch-It Vigo is a wireless head control for a power chair. The rider wears a light headset that reads how the head moves in three dimensions, and the chair answers with proportional drive, so a small tilt forward moves it at a matching speed.

Who is the Vigo for?

It suits a driver who cannot use a joystick, a chin control or a sip and puff, or who would rather not have a head array. Book a free home assessment or visit our showroom.

What is in the kit?

The Vigo headset, a headrest sensor, the Cubo display, the Link interface for the chair, a Bluetooth dongle and a charging cable. The headrest sensor rests the head between drives, starts the drive and works as an emergency stop.

How is it set up?

Each head movement is set on its own in the Switch-It Vigo Drive software, with sliders for the rider's range of motion, so a driver with a limited neck range can still reach full speed. Settings can be changed later.

Will it fit my power chair?

It needs a chair with PGDT R-Net (Omni, Omni2 or an Input/Output Module), Dynamic Controls Linx DLX-IN500, or Quantum Rehab Q-Logic 3 EX with an Enhanced Display or SCIM Module. Any 3.5 mm jack switch plugs into the Cubo, and the Cubo mount is a separate item number.

Funding help for a head control in Ontario

Depending on the person's needs and assessment, funding may be available for mobility equipment in Ontario. Our team works with funding programs every week. See our funding guide or call (905) 798-1853.

Delivery, service and warranty

We set the Vigo up on the chair and in the app with the rider. NowTechnologies, the maker, gives two years of full warranty, and the manual gives the head drive an intended lifetime of five years. The paperwork sits on our documents page.

How does it compare?

Our wheelchair accessories page covers alternative drive controls, and our power wheelchairs page covers the chair.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a different power chair to use the Vigo?

No. The Vigo is added to a chair that already has one of the supported electronics, through the Link interface and a Cubo mount.

How long does the battery last?

The maker gives up to 14 hours of use, a full charge in about two hours, and a low battery warning before the headset shuts down.

What happens during a spasm or a sudden movement?

The chair stops when the head leaves the range set in the app, and fast, seizure-like movements are detected. The headrest sensor also works as an emergency stop.
