Description
Article 6091 is the extension strap for the SystemRoMedic FlexiGrip, a nylon bed rail with eight padded handles that lets a person pull themselves up in bed. The rail is 175 cm long; the strap adds another 120 cm when 175 cm is not enough.
When do you need the extension strap?
- When the FlexiGrip has to reach a bed footboard or a handrail further away than the rail's own 175 cm allows.
- When the rail is shared between two anchor points and the standard loop will not span them.
- The strap attaches to the FlexiGrip; it is not a rail or a handle on its own.
What does the FlexiGrip itself give you?
- Eight padded handles along a 175 x 9 cm nylon rail, with red grips that are easy to find in the bed.
- A 150 kg safe working load, and a loop at the end for the bed footboard or a handrail.
- A soft, soiling resistant surface, so it can lie in the bed without being in the way.
How do you fit and look after it?
- Loop the FlexiGrip around the footboard or handrail first, then attach the extension strap to gain the extra length.
- Wipe the strap and the rail with warm water or a soap solution, and disinfect with 70% ethanol or 45% isopropanol if a policy requires it.
- Never use phenol or chlorine based cleaning agents on the nylon.
- Check the strap, the loops and the stitching before each use, and discard at the first sign of wear.
Where does it fit in the range?
The FlexiGrip and its parts sit with our patient lifts and transfer aids. For help getting up from bed, see sit-to-stand lifts, and the other transfer and gait belts. Ask through contact us if you are not sure which part you need.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the extension strap without the FlexiGrip?
No. It is an accessory that attaches to the FlexiGrip rail. On its own it is a strap with no handles and no anchor loop.
Does the strap change the weight limit?
The maker rates the FlexiGrip at 150 kg (331 lbs). Keep to that figure; the strap is part of the same system and adds no capacity.
How long is the strap?
120 cm (47.2 in), used together with the FlexiGrip's own 175 cm rail.
