This add-on control unit, part 8410, belongs to the SPAN PressureGuard Custom Care Convertible LAL mattress system; the non-LAL Convertible takes a different unit.
Fitting it turns the surface into a powered surface: the air lines connect with quick-connect fittings and the therapy is chosen with push buttons.
The LAL system runs to 500 lb (227 kg) in its non-powered and alternating modes, and up to 350 lb (159 kg) in the lateral rotation mode. Those limits belong to the mattress system.
The control unit itself weighs about 6 lb and carries a two-year, non-prorated maker warranty. It is an electrical device, so a trained technician sets it up and checks it. The medical mattresses section covers the LAL surface it powers, and other parts sit in spare parts.
