Description
The Drive Two Wheeled Walker with Seat is a folding walking frame with two 5 in (127 mm) swivel front wheels, a padded seat and a backrest. It is Drive item 1239RD in red.
Who is it for?
- For someone who wants a frame for balance while walking and a place to sit partway through a trip.
- For a home or apartment where the frame has to fold and stand out of the way.
- Choose a four-wheel walker with hand brakes if you want brakes you can squeeze, or a transport chair if you need to be pushed while seated.
Will it fit?
- The handles adjust from 30.5 to 37.8 in (775 to 960 mm).
- The seat is 15.875 in (403 mm) wide and 8 in (203 mm) deep.
- The frame is 24 in (610 mm) wide, so it passes most interior and bathroom doors.
- It carries up to 300 lb (136 kg) and weighs 14.3 lb (6.5 kg).
How do you walk with it?
- Push the frame a short step ahead, then step into it and keep it close.
- To slow or stop, press down on the handles so the rear tips grip the floor.
- The rear legs end in glide tips, not wheels, so the back stays put.
How does the seat and fold work?
- Before you sit, check that the frame is fully open, the seat is down and the folding bar under the seat is locked.
- Sit facing the way you walked, with both feet on the floor.
- Never let anyone push you while you are seated. This is a walking aid, not a wheelchair or a transport chair.
- Release the seat bar and fold the frame at the hinge for a car boot or a cupboard.
What is included, and what fits it?
- The box holds the frame with the padded seat, backrest, two front wheels, two rear glide tips and height knobs.
- Assembly is light: the backrest slides into the frame brackets and locks with snap buttons, and each handle tube is fixed with a knob. Set both handles to the same height.
- Spare parts are ordered by number: seat with brackets 1239-06, backrest 1239-07, wheel 1239-02, rear glide 1239-01, folding hinge 1239-03.
- A blue version (1239BL) is listed but not stocked.
How does it compare?
- The Drive Deluxe Folding Walker is lighter at 7.5 lb and carries 350 lb, with no seat.
- The Drive bariatric folding walker takes 500 lb on a 27 in frame with no seat.
- A four-wheel rollator adds hand brakes and a basket.
- See all two-wheel walkers.
Frequently asked questions
Does it have hand brakes?
No. The rear tips act as brakes when you press down on the handles. There are no brake levers on the grips.
Can someone push me while I sit on the seat?
No. It is a walking aid only and is not built to carry a seated person. Choose a transport chair for that.
Is it any good outdoors?
It rolls on hard, flat surfaces: floors, corridors, aisles, sidewalks and pavement. Keep it off grass, gravel, ice and snow.
The walker carries a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser; wear items such as the casters and grips are excluded. Funding may help: see who may help pay.
