Description
The Trillium 2 (Trillium Type 2) is Evolution Technologies' light, centre-folding rollator on 6-inch wheels, made in British Columbia in three sizes.
Who is it for, and who should choose another walker?
- Walking mostly indoors and on smooth pavement, with a seat for rest stops and a frame light enough to lift.
- Grass, gravel, broken sidewalks or frequent curbs: the 8-inch Evolution Trillium or another Type 3 rollator fits better.
- Over 300 lbs (136 kg): every size carries 300 lbs, so choose a higher rated walker.
- Needs to be pushed while seated: Evolution says never use it as a wheelchair. See transport chair rollators.
Which size fits you?
- Stand with your shoulders level: the handles should sit at your wrist or slightly higher. Measure floor to wrist in your usual shoes; a therapist may prescribe otherwise.
- Mini: handles 29-33" (737-838 mm), seat 18" (457 mm).
- Regular: handles 31.5-35.5" (800-902 mm), seat 21" (533 mm).
- Tall: handles 34.5-38.5" (876-978 mm), seat 24" (610 mm).
- If two sizes fit, pick the seat height you sit on and stand up from most easily.
- Doorways: it is 25" (635 mm) wide open. Evolution does not publish folded dimensions.
Safe use
- Lock both brakes (press down until they click) before sitting; never lock them while moving, and do not walk with them on.
- After unfolding, check the centre seat handle sits level with the seat: that shows the frame is locked open.
- Check nuts and bolts regularly, and the frame and tires at least monthly. Pushing doors open, hitting curbs or use as a wheelchair voids the warranty.
Options and compare
- Evolution's accessories for this model: cup holder, phone holders, slow-down brakes for hills, curb climber, eyeglass holder and tray. Ask what we can supply.
- The Human Care Nexus One is 2" narrower and carries more weight, with cable-free brakes, but weighs about 4 lbs (2 kg) more.
- More choices: Type 2 rollators, or our guide to rollators versus walkers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I carry it?
Pull up the handle in the middle of the seat to fold it, then carry it by that handle like a suitcase. It stands on its own when folded.
What if the brakes feel weak?
Take up the slack with the brake adjustment screw, or our technicians can adjust it at home or in our shop.
Do I need to register the warranty?
Yes. Evolution asks you to register within 14 days of purchase, by mail with a copy of your invoice or online.
