Description
Handicare built the Carina350EM low-leg version for homes and rooms where the bed frame leaves little space underneath. It is the same folding lift as the standard EM, with smaller front castors that bring the base down.
Who it suits
- A person who needs a full lift from bed, chair or floor, up to 350 lb (159 kg) with the sling and bar Handicare allows.
- A caregiver who prefers foot pedals for the legs over an electric base: push the pedal at the back to spread or close the base.
- A home that needs to store or carry the lift: it folds to 47.9 in long and 16.8 in high.
Check the fit before you order
- Space under the bed: the base is 4.9 in (125 mm) high, on 1.4 in front castors.
- Leg spread: 26.8 in closed to 42.5 in open on the outside (680-1080 mm), and 22-37 in between the legs.
- Reach: the hooks travel from 22.8 in to 66.1 in, and the base is 45.3 in long.
- Floor: the manual asks for a level floor.
How it compares

Battery and safety
Two 12 V, 2.9 Ah gel batteries charge from the built-in charger; charge for at least 4 hours before first use. Lowering also works by hand or by the electrical backup if the motor stops. Handicare asks for a thorough inspection at least once a year by authorized personnel. Our service team services the lifts we sell.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open the legs on the EM?
Press the pedals at the back of the lift with your foot, one to spread the base and one to close it. The EE versions do this from the hand control.
Is a sling in the box?
No. The sling bar is fitted, and the sling is chosen to suit the person from the Handicare SystemRoMedic range. See our slings.
Can it be charged in the bathroom?
No. The manual says not to use the lift in water or charge it in a wet room.
Can I try a floor lift first?
Floor lifts can be rented for a short need, and a free home assessment checks the bed height and doorways.
