Description
The Tyke is a paediatric tilt-in-space mobility base from Ki Mobility. It tilts 35 degrees for positioning, folds flat for the car and takes R82 x:panda shape seating, so it can grow with a child from the infant years.
Who is it for?
- It suits a young child who needs supported seating, a change of position through the day and a base that is easy to move.
- It is made in two sizes, with seat widths of 15.5 in and 18 in and a 74 lb capacity. Book a free home assessment: we confirm the size, the seating and your therapist's plan before the base is ordered.
How the tilt and growth work
- The easy-to-tilt base moves through 35 degrees, so your child can rest, take part in an activity or be repositioned without leaving the seat.
- R82 x:panda shape seating, ordered with the base, is built to change shape as your child grows: leg supports, back height and seat width and depth all adjust. The Axiom PXP paediatric cushion and the Axiom PXAL paediatric back support are the Ki seating we pair with a base. Compare the tilt wheelchairs.
What it is like to live with
- The base folds flat and unfolds single handed, and the angle adjustable handle sets to the height of the person pushing.
- Adjustable rear suspension smooths the ride over kerbs and uneven ground.
- On Size 1 the base can be built reverse facing, so your child faces you for eye contact and interaction.
- Front caster swivel locks, rear wheel locks and an integrated tilt lock out are there for safety. The base comes in matte Shadow Black.

Frequently asked questions
Can the Tyke be used in a vehicle?
The Tyke can be ordered with Ki's transit system option, and transit is tied to a base built with it. We go through that option with you before the base is ordered and confirm it on the finished build. The seating has to be removed for transport.
Does the Tyke come with seating?
The base is supplied without seating, armrests or footrests. R82 x:panda shape seating is ordered with it, in the Infant, Simple or Advanced package, and the adaptor plate lets you add and remove the seating.
How much does the Tyke tilt?
It tilts through 35 degrees of posterior dynamic tilt. The movement is easy to reach, and there is an integrated tilt lock out if you need to hold a position.
