Description
The Ki Mobility Catalyst 4E is a folding lightweight wheelchair built to order for an adult who self-propels, with a measured setup and a dual cross brace.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Aluminium frame with a dual cross brace and the Power X-Hinge; it folds side to side.
- Transport weight is 13.3 lb (6 kg) at 16 x 16 in with the rear wheels, anti-tips, armrests, wheel locks and footrest hangers off.
- The axle plate moves the centre of gravity 2 in (5 cm) in 1/2 in steps and sets the rear seat height over 5 in in seven positions.
- The angle-adjustable back has two pivot points and preset positions.
- Hanger leg length adjusts with one tool, with an anti-rotation lock.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A rider who wants a folding daily chair with a measured seat, axle and back position.
- A caregiver who loads the frame into a vehicle: it is light with the parts off.
- Over 350 lb (159 kg): bariatric wheelchairs. Needs tilt: tilt-in-space wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat width 14 to 22 in (35.6 to 55.9 cm); seat depth 15 to 20 in (38.1 to 50.8 cm).
- Front seat height 12.5 to 21 in (31.8 to 53.3 cm), set by caster size; rear seat height 12 to 19 in (30.5 to 48.3 cm).
- Measure hip width, hips to knee, and knee to heel in shoes. A therapist or our free home assessment sets the order.
Using it day to day
- Fold the frame side to side for the car; the swing-away footrests lift off first.
- Set the axle plate for balance and the rear seat height together, and check the quick-release axles before each ride.
- The one-tool hanger adjustment sets leg length without removing the footplate.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The rider and anything carried must total no more than 300 lb (136 kg), or 350 lb (159 kg) with the heavy duty option.
- WC-19 transit approval is a model-family listing; confirm the built chair's transit equipment with us before relying on it.
- Anti-tippers and a cushion are separate choices; the chair arrives with its upholstery, arms, footrests, wheels, handrims, casters and wheel locks.
Which version should I choose?
- Heavy duty: the 350 lb (159 kg) option.
- Arms: height-adjustable T-arms or flip-back T-arms.
- Colours: Gloss Black, Red or Blue, with a gloss finish on the frame and accents.
How does it compare?
- Quickie QXi: another folding chair with an adjustable axle plate.
- Helio A7: a 7005 aluminium folding frame.
- Folding wheelchairs: the full range.
Frequently asked questions
Can the footrests come off for a transfer?
Yes. The swing-away footrests lift off; ask us to show the release at setup.
Can the seat height be changed later?
The axle plate moves the rear height and centre of gravity; review the casters, wheels and seating together before a change.
Can I ride in it in a vehicle?
Only with the transit equipment fitted to that chair; WC-19 approval covers the model family, so confirm your build with us first.
