Description
Item 791BL is the blue Drive Nitro Glide. Drive offers it for someone recovering from a below-the-knee injury who needs to keep moving without standing on that leg.
How you ride it
The injured leg rests on the pad. The other foot pushes. Hand brakes work both rear wheels, and the cables run inside the frame so they can be replaced without opening the whole tube. It is not a steerable knee walker: the handle does not turn the wheels.
Fit, left or right
The pad is offset and reversible, so it can face a left leg or a right leg. Set the pad and the handle without tools. The front axle locks at 16, 18, or 20 in, which changes how tightly the walker turns in a hall versus on a path.
Carrying and the basket
The frame folds for a car or a closet. The basket lifts off and has its own handle, so it can come inside while the walker stays by the door. Assembled, the maker lists 35.3 in long, 15.6 to 20.3 in wide, and 30.7 to 38.6 in high.
What this page is not
It is not the red Nitro Glide, and it is not a knee walker with a tiller that steers. Knee walkers are not described here as a funded device. If the injury is not below the knee, ask a clinician before you use one.
Funding may help: see who may help pay. See other knee walkers, including an economy folding knee walker, or the wider walking aids list. A free home assessment checks the pad height against your leg and your doorway.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move it from the left leg to the right?
Turn the offset pad around so the raised side suits the other leg. Do that before you load the leg, and check that the pad post is seated.
Why are there three axle widths?
A narrower axle turns in a tighter hall. A wider axle feels steadier on an open path. Pick one and leave it until the route changes.
Can I steer it like a scooter?
No. The handle does not swivel the front wheels. You shift your weight and use the axle width you already set.
Where do the brake cables run?
Inside the frame tubes, so they are not looped on the outside. When a cable needs replacing, that enclosed run is the one your technician pulls.
