Description
MC7WL is the Advantage ReadyWide with a floor lock. A red pedal holds the bed, and a green pedal lets it roll.
Who should choose the floor-lock bed?
- A long-term care room where the bed must stay put for a transfer, and the deck can sit near the floor.
- Not a house, not MC7WM, and not the 650 lb Plus code MC7WPML. Span limits this series to long-term care.
Will the deck and the load fit?
- One frame clicks to 39 in, then to 42 in. Sleep length is 76, 80 or 84 in, and 84 in needs an extender we confirm for the serial.
- Deck height is 7-7/8 in to 31 in, with a pause at 12.5 in (318 mm). Only the foot-end control goes lower, and a low deck shortens the distance to the floor.
- Safe working load is 500 lb (227 kg). Maximum patient weight is 350 lb (159 kg).
How do the lock and the power work?
- The red pedal locks and the green pedal releases. Caster locks are separate, so lock the bed when it is not moving.
- Two staff move the empty bed after the cord is unplugged. Battery backup is optional, and it is not fitted on this code.
- Rails are a separate order. See bed rails. MC7WML is a different item number.
How does it compare?
The Advantage grid-deck bed stays 35 in wide unless a separate expander is added. This frame already widens.
For a house, look at a full electric homecare bed. More frames are on the long-term care beds page.
Frequently asked questions
Can the floor lock stay on while someone gets in?
Yes. Span says to lock the bed whenever it is not being moved, then test that it does not shift.
Does the red pedal replace the caster brakes?
No. The pedal holds the bed and each caster still has its own lock, so use both when the bed stays put.
Will it roll through a doorway with the lock fitted?
Yes, after the green pedal is pressed and the deck is narrowed. Two staff move it, with no resident on it.
Funding and the warranty split
Funding may help: see who may help pay. The July 2026 catalogue lists mechanical parts for 5 years, the frame for 15 and welds for 15.
Pendants, foot-end controls, cables and batteries are 1 year.
