Span America lists pressure injury prevention in people at low to moderate risk as the primary use of the Pressure Kair. Bedsores is another name for a pressure injury. The person's nurse, doctor or therapist decides if this overlay suits their skin.
Ontario Health's pressure injury standard (1 December 2017, Quality Statement 5) says the surface follows that assessment.
Who is it for?
It sits on top of a mattress. It is not a powered surface and it has no pump. Someone who needs air therapy, or a full replacement mattress, needs a different medical mattress.

- Those cells are grouped into head, torso and foot zones.

Will it fit the bed?
Measure the mattress it will cover. This item is 72 inches long. The 80 inch Pressure Kair is SP889-000, and it is not in this case.
An overlay adds 3.5 inches on top of the mattress already there. Health Canada recommends rail gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3 and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4. The wrong thickness can widen those gaps, so check the bed before use. See bed rails.
No weight rating is stated for this overlay, and no warranty period is stated either. Neither figure is guessed.
Cleaning, funding and delivery
The catalog does not print wash steps for the Soft Skin sleeve. Do not machine wash it unless Span America confirms that this sleeve can be laundered.
