Span's Geo-Matt is a foam overlay with a segmented top, sold as a pad on top of a mattress rather than as the mattress itself.
What does the current page actually list?
- The standard size is 33" (84 cm) wide, 72" (183 cm) long and 3.5" (9 cm) high, with a 250 lb (113 kg) limit.
- The top is cut into more than 800 cells, zoned for the head, torso and legs. Span's ring-of-air is meant to move heat off the surface.
- Span offers the same idea with a Soft Skin sleeve or a nylon coverlet, including an 80" nylon coverlet under a different code.
- We sell the 72" length as 50960-457 and the 80" length as 50960-500. The maker page prints those two lengths under other numbers, so we confirm the cover on your code before you order.
Who should not treat this as the whole surface?
- It is an overlay. The mattress and the bed under it still set the weight limit if that limit is lower than 250 lbs.

- Add the pad, then recheck the rails. Health Canada flags gaps over 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3, and over 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4. See hospital beds.
Which sizes are not this page?
- Pediatric, isolette, bassinet, operating-room, full, queen and king Geo-Matt codes are on the maker page and are not these two numbers.
- Measure the deck first. The 72" pad (50960-457) does not cover an 80" deck, which is 50960-500. See mattress sizes.

Does either length come with a sleeve?
Span builds this overlay with a nylon coverlet or a Soft Skin sleeve. Tell us which you want and we confirm the cover on your code.
What is the standard Geo-Matt size?
33" by 72" by 3.5", rated 250 lbs. An 80" coverlet is a different code.
Does the overlay replace the mattress?
No. It sits on a mattress. The bed and the mattress still have their own weight limits.
