Description
Safety Supreme is an APM2 surface with a raised side and a lower opening for getting in and out.
Who is it for?
- A person at or under 350 lbs who may need alternating pressure, lateral rotation or Float.
- A bed where staff want a raised foam edge. Span says it prompts the person away from the edge and is meant to reduce fall and entrapment risk. It is not a substitute for rails or a falls plan.
- If you do not need the raised side, ask us about the standard flat APM2.
- Over 350 lbs, this is the wrong surface.
Which part number is which size?
- SAF5875-29 is 75 x 35 in. SAF5880-29 is 80 x 35 in. SAF5884-29 is 84 x 35 in. Centre height 7 in, side height 9 in.
- Measure the deck. The side is taller than the centre, so the rail gap is not the same as a flat 7 in mattress.
- The cover is durable, non-stretch coated nylon.
Modes
- Choose lateral rotation, alternating pressure, or Float.
- Alternating pressure and rotation each run a 10-minute cycle. Auto Firm holds the surface firm for 20 minutes for transfers and care.
- Digital control unit 5900: 6.3 lbs, 120 V AC, 60 Hz, 1.0 A.

Frequently asked questions
Does the raised edge replace bed rails?
No. Span describes it as reducing risk. Rails and a falls plan are still a separate decision.
Is there a 42 in wide Safety Supreme?
Savaria's current sheet lists 35 in widths only. Ask us if you need a wider deck and we check with Savaria.
Is the control unit included?
Savaria lists the 5900 digital control unit on its own line. We confirm on your quote whether it is part of your order.
