Description
The Savaria Patient Care Span F450T is a manual standing aid for someone who can pull up and bear weight.
Who can use it, and who needs a powered lift?
The person must stand on the footplate and stay standing long enough to sit back on the split seat.
- If they cannot pull up and stand, use a powered lift. The Span F500S is a different product.
- This is not a full-body floor lift. See sit-to-stand lifts for other standing aids.
How does the transfer work?
Swing both seat halves up, roll in close, then drop both halves before the person sits.
- Feet go on the footplate and shins meet the knee pads. The person pulls up on the nearer cross bar.
- They lower themselves onto the seat while still holding the bar. A caregiver then rolls to the next surface.
- The manual lists bed, chair, wheelchair and commode moves. It is not for a long trip or a long sit.
Will the base fit the chair and the bed?
A foot pedal opens the legs. Lock the casters while the person stands, then unlock them to roll.
- Closed width 26.7 in (678 mm). Open width 37 in (940 mm), measured outside the legs at their widest.
- Length 35.4 in (899 mm). Overall height 43.3 in (1100 mm). Base height 4.5 in (114 mm).
- The bottom of the seat is 26.7 in (678 mm) from the floor. The unit weighs 71 lb (32.2 kg).
Is a strap included?
No. The split seats are the standard support, and a strap is only for someone who needs more hold at the upper body.
- The manual names optional straps SL-SA669 and SL-SA669B. Seat locks are also optional.
- Browse the wider patient lift range if a sling lift is a better fit.
Frequently asked questions
Do both seat halves have to be down?
Yes. Lower both halves so they form one seat before the person sits, because one half up is not a finished seat.
Can someone stay seated on it for an hour?
No. The manual says not to use it as a seat for a long time, and not to travel a long distance on it.
Is the support strap required?
No. It is optional for someone who needs more upper-body support, and the split seat is the standard support.
