Description
A Spex Stylo head support carries the head and neck where a wheelchair user's trunk curves or leans to one side, with the pad reaching away from the back support.
Who is a Stylo head support for?
It suits a rider whose thoracic or lumbar curve pushes the head forward of the back support, or whose trunk rotates sideways. The maker also names tilt-in-space users who need the head carried all day.
Will it fit my wheelchair?
The stem clamps into a mount block on the chair's back support, and on a grid base shell the mount moves in 25 mm steps sideways. The Slim Mount suits power chairs with little room behind the back. Check your wheelchair back with us.
How is it fitted and adjusted?
Twin ball joints give 45 degrees of pad pitch in every direction, and the hinges under them add 180 degrees of up and down angle. One 5 mm hex key does every adjustment, and a quick release handle lifts the stem out for transfers.
Which mechanisms, pads and colours are there?
Canada stocks four mechanisms: Stylo 160 and Stylo 260, each in a flip-back version too. The 160 reaches 160 mm forward and the 260 reaches 260 mm; both carry 660 lbs (300 kg). Pads come in Circle, Comfi, Contour and Adjustable Lateral; the maker's fitting guide shows how to set them.
Funding help for a head support in Ontario
Depending on the person's needs and assessment, funding may be available for mobility equipment in Ontario. Our team works with funding programs every week and can point you to the right route before you buy. See our funding guide or call (905) 798-1853.
Delivery, service and warranty
We deliver across Toronto and the GTA and fit the head support to your chair, or book a free home assessment. Spex warrants it for 24 months against defects in materials and workmanship; wear and the removable cover are not covered.
How does it compare?
The PowerPlus Relax multi-axis headrest is another multi-axis option we carry; a simple pad suits a rider who only needs midline support.
Frequently asked questions
Which Stylo mechanism do I need?
The 160 reaches 160 mm forward and the 260 reaches 260 mm, for a trunk that curves further from the back.
Does the mechanism come with a pad?
The pad is ordered separately, so we quote the mechanism and pad together.
What does the flip-back version add?
Slide the red collar up and the stem swings back out of the way of transfers.
Can it stay on the chair in a vehicle?
Yes. It is crash tested to RESNA WC-4:2012 Section 20 and meets ISO 16840-4:2009.
