Description
Whitmyer Heads Up holds the head from the front, the back and the sides. The arms swing clear for a transfer, then return to the set place.
Who should choose it?
It suits someone who needs support in more than one direction, including on a tilt chair.
- Choose it when the arms must clear for a transfer and then come back.
- Choose a single posterior pad when support in front is not needed.
What is chosen on the order?
Neck width, arm length and the rear pad are chosen on the form. The rear can be a contoured cradle, or a sub-occipital pad with its own occipital pad.
Hardware is AXYS, ONYX, LINX, LINX2, PRO, Cobra Xtra or Cobra Xtra flip-back. The cover is Lycra or Dartex Reversed.
How does it compare?
Other positioning supports include pads that sit behind the head only. The PowerPlus Relax multi-axis headrest uses its own hardware.
On a child's chair, match the neck width after you look through pediatric wheelchairs.
Funding may help: see who may help pay.
The owner's manual says this line is not transit tested. Do not push the chair by the head support, and keep pads off the ear, eye, throat and jaw.
Book a free home assessment to check pad contact, or browse wheelchairs if the chair is still open.
Frequently asked questions
Can the arms be ordered fixed?
Yes. The April 2025 form lists a fixed-arm package and a swing-away package, each in large, medium, small and early intervention.
Is a fleece cover available?
Not on this form. Heads Up cover codes are Lycra or Dartex Reversed only. Fleece is not one of the two choices.
Will it bolt to every back?
The manual says the mount fits most back shells when the holes line up. A back without those holes needs a different bracket.
