Description
Whitmyer Soft Dual Sub-Occipital is the three-pad head support. Two pads sit under the skull, and each one can be moved without copying the other side.
Who needs three pads?
It suits a person whose head is hard to hold with one neck pad, including someone who leans to one side. A single curved pad is simpler when both sides match.
- Each sub-occipital pad adjusts for width and for rotation.
- The occipital pad still moves forward and back on its own.
How are the sets labelled?
The form has four adult sets and four pediatric sets. The code number is not the inch size of the pad.
Cover codes are Lycra or Dartex Reversed. Mounts are the seven Whitmyer systems. Brackets are separate except on Cobra.
How does it compare?
One neck pad is listed with the other positioning supports. The PowerPlus Relax multi-axis headrest is a different headrest, not a three-pad Whitmyer build.
Pediatric sets belong with pediatric wheelchairs.
Funding may help: see who may help pay.
The manual says Whitmyer head supports are not transit tested. Do not steer the chair from this pad, and keep it off the ear, eye, throat and jaw.
The two sides are set at a free home assessment. Chairs are listed under wheelchairs.
Frequently asked questions
Is code 5 the 5 in pad?
No. On the form, code 5 is the 10 in occipital with size-1 sub-occipital pads. Code 8 is the 8 in occipital in that same size.
Does the form include a fleece cover?
It codes Lycra and Dartex Reversed only. Fleece is on the product page, so that part is confirmed before it is ordered.
Can the cover be machine washed?
The manual says to unzip it, hand wash it in mild detergent, rinse it, and air dry it. It does not describe a machine wash.
