Description

Whitmyer Soft Single Sub-Occipital puts one curved pad under the base of the skull and a separate pad behind it. That rear pad slides forward and back on its own.

When is one neck pad enough?

It suits someone who needs support under the skull and a bit of side contact, and whose posture can be set and left. Two neck pads are the next step when the sides do not match.

  • One curved sub-occipital pad, not a pair.
  • The occipital pad has its own forward and back adjustment.

What is chosen on the order?

The form lists four sets. Cover codes are Lycra or Dartex Reversed. Hardware is the seven Whitmyer mounts, and brackets are separate except on Cobra.

How does it compare?

Other positioning supports include a single pad with no neck piece. The PowerPlus Relax multi-axis headrest is a different headrest.

For a smaller head, look at pediatric wheelchairs and match the small occipital set to the form.

Funding may help: see who may help pay.

The manual says this line is not transit tested. Do not push the chair by the head support, and keep pads off the ear, eye, throat and jaw.

Pad contact is checked at a free home assessment. The chair range is at wheelchairs.

Frequently asked questions

Why do the page and the form use different size names?

The page names four combinations, including a pediatric occipital. The form labels the same block by pad width and large or small occipital.

Are the two sides of the neck pad set apart?

No. The curved neck pad is one piece, so the two sides are not set apart. A dual system is the one with two neck pads.

Is fleece on the April 2025 form?

No. Cover codes are Lycra or Dartex Reversed. Fleece is named on the product page and has to be confirmed.
