Description
Model EIZ5A is a pediatric tilt chair. A caregiver tilts and pushes it. Sunrise does not present it as a chair the child propels.
Who it suits
- A child who needs someone else to change tilt through the day.
- Not the adult chair. That is the Quickie IRIS.
How the tilt works
The seat frame rotates around the child's centre of gravity. Choose a 40 or 55 degree range. Those ranges can be set to reach 45 or 60 degrees back.
Two triggers lock the seat, and letting go locks it. A foot release hides the cables. Do not propel it while tilted forward. A dealer sets any forward tilt, from 0 to 5 degrees.
Check the fit
- Rigid width is 10 to 18 in. Folding width is 10 to 16 in and can grow to 18 in.
- Depth is 10 to 18 in. Front and rear seat height are both 13 to 19 in.
- The folding frame grows up to 4 in in depth and 2 in in width. Overall width is 17.5 to 25.5 in.
- A home assessment checks the doorway.
Limits
- Capacity is 225 lb (102 kg), rider plus items carried. The Z-Finity footrest limits the user to 165 lb (75 kg).
- Occupied travel needs the transit option. The manual names it WC-19.
- Transport weight excludes footrests, rear wheels, seat pan, armrests and transit: 22.8 lb (10.3 kg) rigid, 26.6 lb (12.1 kg) folding.
Compare the other tilt chairs
The Zippie TS tilts 45 degrees on a fixed pivot, at 165 lb. The Zippie Sphynx folds and uses static tilt at 10, 20 or 30 degrees. See pediatric wheelchairs and tilt wheelchairs.

Frequently asked questions
Can my child stay in the IRIS in a car?
Only if that chair was built with the transit option. The manual names it WC-19. Without it, use a vehicle seat.
What if we add the Z-Finity footrest?
The user limit drops from 225 lb (102 kg) to 165 lb (75 kg). The chair without that footrest stays at 225 lb.
Does every IRIS fold?
No. The XLOCK folding crossbrace is optional. The rigid frame is the other build, and it does not fold.
Can we set the forward tilt at home?
No. The manual says a dealer sets the 0 to 5 degree forward tilt. Do not propel the chair while it is tilted forward.
