The Airgo Comfort-Plus XC (Drive Medical item 700-830) is a black folding transport chair for an adult who rides while a companion pushes.
What does it do and how does it work?
It carries the rider on short trips, with the controls placed for the person pushing.
- Lockable hand brakes on both push handles, each cabled to a rear wheel.
- 12 in (30.5 cm) rear wheels and 8 in (20 cm) casters; no hand rims, so the rider cannot self-propel.
- Full-length padded armrests flip back and detach for a side transfer or to pull up to a table.
- Footrests adjust for length without tools, carry heel loops, and swing to the side to lock against the frame.
- A seat belt, a backrest pouch and a sling seat are standard; no cushion is included.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- An adult up to 300 lb (136 kg) who is pushed on errands, appointments and outings.
- For a rider who wants to wheel themselves, choose a self-propelled chair such as the Drive Poly Fly TR18.
- For long days seated, choose a standard wheelchair with a cushion; this sling seat is for transport.
Will it fit?
- Seat 19 in wide by 16 in deep (48 by 41 cm), 19 in (48 cm) from the floor; back 18 in (46 cm).
- Open width 24 in (61 cm); folded width 10.5 in (26.7 cm). Measure the doorways on the route and the car boot.
- Measure the rider seated: hip width, hips to the back of the knee, and knee to heel with shoes on.
Using it day to day
- Fold the back down, then pull the sides together; the footrests swing in and lock.
- At 21 lb (9.5 kg), one adult can lift it into a car boot.
- Set the hand brakes before the rider sits or stands, and release both before pushing.
- Use the backrest pouch for a wallet or keys, out of the rider's way.
