Description
A stock cushion and back suit most riders. Axiom CS is for the rest: a linear seating system assembled from separate components, each sized and placed for one person's posture.
Who is custom seating for?
- A rider whose posture needs support at points a stock cushion and back do not reach: the trunk, the thighs, the head or the feet.
- A child or adult whose seating has to change as posture changes, or as the body grows.
- A funding application that has to show each part separately, or one that buys a package.
- Seating that has to be built for the wheelchair under it. Ki builds both, and states the wheelchair and seating compatibility is guaranteed.
What is in the system?
- The seat: cushion, hardware, and a contour seat modification in low, mid or tall profile.
- Pads: lateral pelvic and thigh pads from 3 in to 16 in wide, lateral trunk pads flat or curved from 3 in to 6 in, and medial thigh pads in wedge or oval shapes.
- Head support: five pad shapes, from the Contour Positioning pad to the Tri-Pad Adjustable and the Comfort Soft range.
- Lower extremity: split single leg, individual leg and double leg foot boxes, each in small, medium and large.
- A tray for frame widths from 10 to 19 in, in 1/4 in or 3/8 in Lexan.
- Foam chosen per component: HR foam, SunMate, Pudgee, T-Foam, gel or closed cell.
How is it ordered?
- Part by part, on Ki's codes: SETCUS seat cushion, SETPKG seat package, SETSMD seat modification, HEDPAD headrest pad, LEXFBX foot box, TRAPKG and TRATRY tray.
- Or as a package, where the funding model prefers a single line.
- Hardware options include the transit-approved ones.
An occupational therapist or an ATP sets the build. We measure, order it, and fit it in the home: book a free home assessment.
The standard range sits under wheelchair cushions and backrests, and the chairs these systems are built for are under paediatrics.
Funding may help: see who may help pay.
Frequently asked questions
How is the seating matched to the wheelchair?
Axiom CS is built to combine with a Ki Mobility wheelchair, which is how the maker states compatibility is guaranteed. On another make of chair, ask us before ordering.
What is itemised ordering?
Instead of one package price, Ki lets the build be listed component by component, with its own code and size. That suits funding that has to see each part named.
Which cover materials are available?
More than 50 material and colour combinations, including neoprene, vinyl and Tek Stretch, and Ki embroiders a name at no charge.
