Description
The Axiom SP Visco is Ki Mobility's viscoelastic cushion in the Axiom SP family. Where the Axiom SP Fluid uses a Hydrolite fluid bladder, this model uses a thick viscoelastic foam insert over a dual density base. Ki says viscoelastic material deforms and returns to shape very slowly. Wheelchair cushions in this family share the cover system.
Who it is for
Ki sells the Axiom SP Visco as a skin protection and positioning cushion and says it is designed for increased immersion, so the trochanters bear an effective load and the tissue supporting the ischial tuberosities bears less. A seating assessment by an occupational therapist or physiotherapist picks the cushion and the size.
Which size fits the wheelchair?
Measure the wheelchair seat, not the person. The Axiom SP Visco runs 14 in to 22 in wide and deep, with 67 combinations on the maker's order form. The item number is XSP plus the two measurements plus V, so a 16 x 18 in cushion is XSP1618V. Send both figures on the seating quote form.
How it is built
The dual density polyurethane foam base has a firm lower layer and a comfort layer on top. The viscoelastic insert carries hexagonal shapes, and Ki removed two small areas of foam under the ischial tuberosities. The cushion is 4.5 in (11.4 cm) high overall, weighs 3.5 lbs (1.6 kg) and carries up to 350 lbs (158.8 kg).
Covers and care
The outer cover is a 4-way super stretch Lycra, or a wipeable incontinence resistant one, and both carry a microclimatic spacer fabric layer. Under it sits a pleated water-resistant inner cover with a self-sealing zipper. Remove the outer cover and machine wash it warm; never soak the foam base. Spare covers are ordered through our service department.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure for the Axiom SP Visco?
Measure the wheelchair seat, not the person: the cushion width and depth match the seat. Send us both figures and we confirm the item number.
Is this the same as the Axiom SP Fluid?
No. Both are Axiom SP cushions with the same base and cover system, but this one uses a viscoelastic foam insert where the SP Fluid uses a Hydrolite fluid bladder.
Can I order a spare cover with the cushion?
Yes. The same size is ordered with a spare cover by adding C2 to the item number.
What does the maker's warranty cover?
Ki covers the cushion base for 24 months and the removable outer and inner covers for 6 months from the date of purchase. Punctures, tears and burns are excluded.
