Description
The PXP is the positioning cushion in Ki Mobility's Axiom for Kids line, shaped for a pelvis and thigh smaller than an adult's rather than scaled down from one.
Who the PXP suits
- A child who slides forward or leans to one side and needs the pelvis held, not just cushioned.
- A wheelchair seat measuring 8 to 16 in wide and 8 to 18 in deep.
- A rider up to 165 lb (74.8 kg). The limit is the foam's, not the chair's.
- Not an adult cushion: Ki shapes the contour differently at each width.
Check the fit
- Measure the seat frame width and depth, then match the cushion to it. Ki builds the cushion in 2 in steps from 8 in.
- Allow for height: 3.5 in (8.9 cm) overall, and 2.3 in (5.7 cm) at the leg troughs where the thighs rest.
- The cushion should sit inside the seat frame, not overhang it, or it catches on doors and transfers.
- Positioning is usually set by an occupational therapist. Book a free home assessment and we check the fit in your home.
Covers and care
- Two contact surfaces: the standard fabric cover, or an incontinence-resistant polyurethane one.
- Both wipe clean and lift off for washing. Never immerse the foam base; it takes a day or more to dry.
- Keep sharp objects away: punctures, tears and burns are outside the warranty.
- The cushion is not a restraint and does not replace a positioning belt or a back support.
Positioning or skin protection
- The PXP holds position. The Axiom for Kids SP cushion uses the same shape with a dual density foam base.
- Choose the SP where skin integrity matters most, and the PXP where posture does.
Compare
- Both cushions sit under wheelchair cushions; the back supports sit under backrests, including the Axiom for Kids PXPL back.
- See the whole paediatric range to build a chair up from the frame.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if the cushion is too wide?
An overhanging cushion catches on transfers and pushes the hips off centre. Move down a width.
Can I cut the foam to fit our chair?
No. The contour and the hexagonal surface are the support, and cutting them voids the warranty.
Does the cover change the support?
The polyurethane cover is wipeable and slightly firmer against the skin. The foam underneath does the positioning either way.
