Which stairlift does this battery set fit?
It fits the Handicare 1100, which uses two 12 V 2.6 Ah maintenance-free batteries. It does not fit lifts that specify 7 Ah, 8 Ah, 9 Ah or 12 Ah batteries.
- Handicare 1100: Two 12 V 2.6 Ah maintenance-free lead-acid batteries. The lift is 24 V DC and charges along the rail.
Choose a different battery for other lifts. A higher amp-hour battery is not an upgrade here.
What must match the old battery?
- Read the label: maker, part number, 12 V, amp-hours, and AGM or gel.
- Look at the tabs. F1 is 0.187 in (4.75 mm) wide.
- Measure the case. A TLV1226 is 2.76 in long, 1.89 in wide and 3.86 in high, 4.09 in over the tabs. A battery near 5.94 in long is the wrong family.
How many and how should they be charged?
The 1100 needs two matching 12 V 2.6 Ah batteries, replaced together. Do not mix an old battery with a new one, or AGM with gel.
Frequently asked questions
Will a 7 Ah stairlift battery fit the 1100?
No. A 7 Ah Interstate FAS1075 is about 5.94 in long and 2.56 in wide. Use the higher rating only on a lift whose maker specifies it.
How long does Handicare say these batteries last?
Handicare's quick reference says the two 12 V 2.6 Ah batteries have an expected life of three years, and that no guarantee is provided for them.
Does the 1100 have to sit at the end of the rail to charge?
No. Savaria says the Handicare 1100 charges along the rail, not only at the stops. You do not buy a separate charger with this set.
