Description
The JAY X2 is a lightweight foam and fluid cushion for active wheelchair users: a flat foam base 2.25" high with a JAY Flow fluid tripad on top, in a reduced profile that keeps the seat-to-floor height.
What is the JAY X2 cushion?
- A non-contoured, high resiliency foam base with a rear coccyx notch and a flat base, so the client can sit at the front edge during daily tasks.
- A maintenance-free JAY Flow fluid tripad that conforms beneath the bony prominences; there is no fluid to top up.
- 3.8 lb at 16" x 16", and 300 lb capacity on the standard cushion under 22" wide per the maker's Canadian order form.
Which size do I order?
- Widths 14" to 20" and depths 14" to 20", in 14 item numbers: JX21414 (13.75" x 14"), JX21616 (15.75" x 16"), JX21717 (17.25" x 17"), JX21820 (17.75" x 20.25") and JX22020 (19.75" x 20") among them.
- Measure the widest point across the seated hips, and the depth from the back of the seat to about 1" short of the back of the knees. A clinician fits the cushion.
- Combinations outside the maker's standard offering are a JAY Your Way order, with an M in front of the part number; a special order is not returnable (see our return policy).
Living with the cushion
- Wipe the water-resistant inner cover down and zip the stretch outer cover back over it; the outer cover takes a machine wash.
- Check the skin under the cushion daily at first and stop using it if redness appears, and check the foam and covers monthly for wear.
- A fault goes through warranty service; the maker prints no warranty period for this cushion on its Canadian page.
What else compares?
- Everything else we carry: wheelchair cushions, including the adjustable fluid JAY Fusion Cushion.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the JAY X2 cushion for?
Active users who need fluid skin protection in a low profile, so the seat-to-floor height stays.
Does the fluid need topping up?
No. The JAY Flow fluid tripad is a sealed, maintenance-free insert; the order form can change its volume at build.
What are the two covers for?
The inner cover keeps moisture out of the foam with a water resistant zipper, and the stretch outer cover zips over it and is machine washable.
Can lateral support be added?
Yes: 1" lateral thigh supports, or 1" tall lateral, medial and pelvic pieces, ordered with the cushion.
