Description
Twist is one unit with five mounts. Speed and the weight limit change with the mount.
Who is the Klaxon Twist for?
- A manual chair user who wants power at the rear, or at the front when the casters need to lift.
- Not the lighter Twist R, a rear-only unit at 6.97 kg without the battery.
- For an Empulse built only for a helper, see the Empulse R20.
Which mount, and will it fit?
- Rear handrim control is 10 km/h, with a 140 kg (309 lb) limit. A caregiver controller at the rear is 6 km/h.
- Rear brackets fit 22, 24, 25 and 26 inch wheels. Folding chairs have their own rear kit.
- Front handrim and front caregiver mounts are 6 km/h, with a 120 kg (265 lb) limit. The central link lifts the casters.
- A lateral link is for a fixed front frame. The handlebar is 20 km/h, still at 120 kg, only where that speed is legal.
- Tell us the chair model and we confirm the kit before you order.
Weight, range and battery
The unit weighs 8.45 kg (18.6 lb) without the battery. The battery is 1.3 kg (2.9 lb), 36 V and 144 Wh. Linking hardware is extra.
Range is 20 km (12.4 mi) on flat ground at 10 km/h with a 75 kg rider. The motor is 750 W, with a 10 inch solid tire.
The app sets the driving profile on iOS and Android.
How does it compare with Empulse?
The Empulse M90 puts the drive in the wheels. The Empulse R90 is a rear add-on that stays on the chair.
The Empulse F35 and the Empulse StreetJet are front pulls. See other wheelchairs, or book a free home assessment.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same product as the Twist R?
No. Twist R is a lighter rear-only unit. This page is the Twist, which also mounts at the front and takes a handlebar.
Why is the top speed not one number?
Rear handrim control is 10 km/h. Front handrim and both caregiver mounts are 6 km/h. The handlebar is 20 km/h, where legal.
Can I fly with the battery?
Klaxon rates the 144 Wh pack as flight-friendly hand luggage. The airline still sets the rule for that flight.
Does one linking kit fit every chair?
No. Rear, central and lateral kits are different, and folding chairs have their own rear kit. Tell us the model and we confirm the kit.
