The Power Plus Relax Spiral Fit Back is a rigid wheelchair back with gentle laterals, made for moderate mid-line support and a spine that curves.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Cut-out shell: cut away to follow spinal curvature and allow a comfortable posterior pelvic tilt.
- Gentle laterals: 3 in (76 mm) deep and 10 in (254 mm) high, built into the shell to support the mid-line.
- Lower thoracic support: 10 in (254 mm), holding the trunk through the lower back.
- Shell: 3 lb (1.4 kg) aluminium with high-resilience foam, and a TEK4 waterproof panel at the bottom edge for easy cleaning.
- Tension: five points of tension adjustment across the back.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Moderate mid-line support: for a rider who needs gentle side support, not firm laterals.
- Complex postural needs: for spinal adjustment and a curved spine.
- Firmer side support: the Prism Ultra carries deeper laterals when more control is needed.
- Assessment first: an occupational therapist or physiotherapist checks the fit.
Will it fit?
- Standard sizes: 16 x 18 in (KTBS16) and 18 x 18 in (KTBS18).
- Height: 18 in (457 mm) shell, 20 in (508 mm) finished.
- Custom bands: a custom width is 15 in or less and 19 in or more; a custom height is 17 in or less and 19 in or more. The standard widths are 16 and 18 in.
- Posts: fits 7/8 in (22 mm) or 1 in (25 mm) tubing, with 2 in (51 mm) of width adjustment through the pins.
- Pins: the hardware repositions 1 in (25 mm); longer pins mount a smaller back on a wider chair.
Using it day to day
- Mounting: one universal Power Plus hardware style; the shell is pre-drilled for a headrest and laterals.
- Angle: 25 degrees in one direction and 20 degrees in the other, set during fitting.
- Cleaning: wipe chrome and painted parts with a mild cleaner; wash the nylon upholstery with mild soap and water, then rinse.
- Cover care: wash at 40 C (104 F); no dry cleaning, tumble drying or ironing.

The maker builds a custom width, a custom height or both; send us the measurements and we quote the band.
Can I order a different cover?
Yes. A TEK4 infection control cover, a bottom protector, or a gel or visco overlay is quoted with the back.
Is this the same as the Relax Gentle Form?
No. The Spiral Fit shell is cut away for spinal curvature; the Gentle Form is the flatter shell in the same line.

Power Plus Mobility guarantees all parts of the Relax Spiral Fit back to be free of defects in workmanship and materials for two years from the date of purchase.
- Parts: 2 years. Defective parts are repaired or replaced as required.
- Wear items such as upholstery are not covered.
- Void if the back is damaged by accident, misuse, neglect, improper application, unauthorized service or repair, or accessories the maker has not approved.
- A return authorization is needed and parts go back freight prepaid within the warranty period; labour and freight are not covered.
