The Future Mobility Lunar Slim (LBS1818 and the other LBS sizes) is a rigid aluminum wheelchair back for positioning, up to 350 lb (159 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
Future Mobility classes it for people who need room to move and still need positioning. The shell is aluminum, with replaceable poly and visco foam.
- The outer cover is a breathable four-way stretch fabric suited to incontinence.
- Lateral pads are optional, in four styles: fixed, height-adjustable, fixed offset, and swing-away.
- Quick-release brackets sit on the back posts. Click the silver flip to lift the back off.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
An occupational therapist or physiotherapist chooses the size and any lateral pads.
- Over 350 lb (159 kg) needs the Lunar Slim Bariatric, a different back rated 500 lb (227 kg).
- The Prism Ultra Back has laterals built into the shell.
- The Prism Basic Back is a milder rigid back.
Will it fit?
Match width to the seat, then pick the height. We confirm width, height and the back-post diameter before you order.
- A 12 or 14 in width comes 10, 12, 14 or 16 in high. A 16, 18 or 20 in width comes 16, 18, 20 or 22 in high.
- LBS1818 is 18 x 18 in and weighs 5.0 lb (2.3 kg). The pins allow up to 2 in (51 mm) between back width and seat width.
- Bracket height is set with three screws and an Allen key. Custom sizes are made to order.
Using it day to day
A technician mounts it. Click the silver flip on each side to remove it for travel.
- The foam can be replaced on its own.
- Keep both brackets clicked home before you sit. Recheck them after the back is put back on.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It mounts on a wheelchair's back posts. The user limit is 350 lb (159 kg).
- Lateral pads are not in the box. They are ordered in one of the four styles.

Are lateral pads included?
No. The shell comes without pads. Four pad styles can be ordered with the back.
How do I take the back off?
Click the silver flip on each quick-release bracket, then lift the back off the posts.
Is this the same back as the Lunar Basic?
No. The Slim has its own shell and sizes, and it is rated to 350 lb (159 kg).
Which heights fit a 14 in width?
A 14 in width is made 10, 12, 14 or 16 in high. Taller shells start at 16 in wide.
