Span America lists pressure injury prevention in people at low to moderate risk as the primary use of the PRT Matt. Bedsores is another name for a pressure injury. The person's nurse, doctor or therapist decides if a bare foam overlay is appropriate.
Ontario Health's pressure injury standard (1 December 2017, Quality Statement 5) says the surface follows that assessment.
How is this one cut?
The catalog says the PRT Matt is cross-sliced in head, torso and foot zones, and that the foam is lavender. It is 3 inches thick, not the 3.5 inch Pressure Kair.

- Item 50960-600 is the same size with a fitted Soft Skin sleeve. Order that code if the sleeve is required.
- It is foam only. It does not replace a foam mattress and it has no pump.
Will it fit?
It covers a mattress about 34 inches wide and 72 inches long. It will not cover an 80 inch mattress. The overlay adds 3 inches of height.
Health Canada recommends rail gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3 and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4. The wrong thickness can widen those gaps. Check the bed with the overlay on it. Rails are listed with bed rails.
The catalog does not print a weight limit or a warranty for the PRT Matt.
