Description
The Empulse F35 is a front pull the rider steers, for short trips on a manual wheelchair in town.
Who it helps, and who should pick another Empulse
- It suits a rider who can steer and dock a light pull for shops, transit, and flat streets.
- Pick the Empulse StreetJet for a larger outdoor handbike.
- Pick the Empulse R20 if a caregiver will push.
- Powered rear wheels are separate: see the Empulse M90.
Will it fit the chair?
The Canada page lists 20 in wide and 35 in long. The December 2025 manual lists a maximum of 36.2 in high, 23 in wide, and 24 in deep.
Those lines do not match, so we measure before you order. Front casters lift once it is attached.
- Fixed or swing-away front frames, 10 to 19 in wide, mounting height 10 to 14.5 in.
- Round-tube reducers for 19 mm, 23 mm, 25.4 mm, or 28.6 mm, on a straight bare metal tube.
- Not for tilt, carbon, or a swing-away hanger. Tell us the chair model and we confirm the clamp before you order.
Use limits
- User limit 242 lb (110 kg). A lower chair limit still applies.
- The 250 W motor is rated to 6 degrees (11%) at that user weight, on a 6.5 in wheel.
- Range is up to 9.3 miles (15.0 km). Cold, hills, and a heavier rider shorten it.
- A build over 6.0 km/h (3.7 mph) may face local road rules. We confirm the speed on the quote.
- The manual lists 1 year on the motor and 6 months on the battery.
How it compares
The StreetJet is the outdoor handbike. The R20 is the caregiver push. A push from behind is the Empulse R90.
Manual chairs sit under wheelchairs. A visit can check the tubes: book a free home assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fly with the F35 battery?
It is listed as fit for air travel. Ask the airline about UN3171, because each carrier sets the rule.
Which top speed will I be quoted?
You order either 9.3 mph (15.0 km/h) or 3.7 mph (6.0 km/h). Each build has three slower steps.
Can an attendant drive it from behind?
No. The rider steers this pull. A caregiver who will push should choose the R20.
Does the subframe stay on the chair?
Yes for the day. That piece is 3.3 lb (1.5 kg). The tube lifts off and the subframe can stay.
