Frequently asked questions

How much does a hospital bed cost?

Hospital bed prices range from $1,500-$5,000 for home use models. Basic manual beds start around $1,500, while fully-electric hi-lo beds with all features range from $3,000-$5,000. We also offer affordable rentals starting from $150/month including delivery and setup.

Does ADP cover hospital beds?

Funding depends on the device and your situation. Mobility Specialties is an ADP registered vendor: we check what ADP and other programs may cover and show your share first. Some people have coverage through Veterans Affairs, WSIB or private insurance, and we prepare the quote and product details they ask for. Renting is also an option for short-term needs.

Can I rent a hospital bed in Toronto?

Yes, we offer hospital bed rentals including delivery, professional setup, and pickup starting at $150/month. Available throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Rental is ideal for recovery after surgery or short-term care needs.

What is the difference between a hospital bed and a homecare bed?

Hospital beds are designed for medical facilities with basic features. Homecare beds are designed for home use with quieter motors, furniture-style aesthetics, and features like low height for easier transfers. Both offer adjustable head and foot positions.

What mattress works with a hospital bed?

Hospital beds use specialized mattresses including innerspring, foam, alternating pressure, and low air loss mattresses. We help you choose based on comfort needs and pressure sore prevention requirements. Mattress selection depends on mobility level and skin condition.

What is a Hi-Lo hospital bed?

A Hi-Lo bed adjusts the entire bed height up and down, making it easier for caregivers to provide care at a comfortable working height and for patients to transfer in and out safely. The low position can go as low as 10 inches from the floor for fall prevention.

Do hospital beds require special electrical outlets?

No, our hospital beds plug into standard household outlets. They use low-power motors that are quiet and energy-efficient. Some beds include battery backup to maintain the current position during power outages.

What size are hospital beds?

Standard hospital beds are twin size (36" x 80"). We also offer full, queen, and king size homecare beds for greater comfort. Bariatric beds are available up to 48" wide with higher weight capacities for larger patients.

Where can I buy a hospital bed in Toronto?

We sell hospital and homecare beds across Toronto and the GTA, including electric hi-lo and bariatric beds, with delivery and setup arranged for you. Visit our Etobicoke or Brampton showroom, or call to ask what is in stock.

How much does a hospital bed cost in Canada?

The price of a hospital bed depends on the type (semi or full electric, hi-lo, bariatric) and the rails and mattress you choose. Some people have coverage through Veterans Affairs, WSIB or private insurance, and renting is an option for short-term needs.

What is the best hospital bed for home use?

The best hospital bed for home use depends on your needs. For basic positioning, a semi-electric bed works well. For caregivers, a full hi-lo electric bed is recommended. For fall prevention, a low bed that goes to 10 inches is ideal. We recommend homecare-style beds that look like furniture for bedroom aesthetics.

Can I get same-day hospital bed delivery in Toronto?

We deliver in-stock hospital beds across Toronto and the GTA and confirm the delivery time when you order. Delivery includes setup, rail installation and a walkthrough of the controls.

Is there an income limit for ADP?

No. ADP has no income test: Ontario residents with a valid health card and a qualifying long-term physical disability may be eligible. Mobility Specialties is an ADP registered vendor: we check what ADP and other programs may cover and show your share first.

How often can I get new equipment through ADP?

ADP sets a usage period for each device type; for example, a wheelchair is usually replaced no sooner than every five years. After the usage period you may qualify for a replacement if you still need the device, and sooner if your needs change significantly.

Can I upgrade my ADP equipment?

Yes. You can choose features beyond what ADP approves and pay the difference. You pay your share plus the cost of any upgrades, and we show you both before anything is ordered.

What documents do I need for ADP application?

You need a valid Ontario health card and an assessment by an ADP authorizer (usually an occupational or physical therapist). The application has sections for you, for the authorizer and for us as the ADP registered vendor; your authorizer will tell you if a physician also needs to sign. We guide you through gathering everything.
